New Hay Fever and Allergy Medication Prescribing Rules

Hay Fever And Allergy Medication

Changes to local NHS policy on prescribing hay fever medication

In line with NHS England and other North East Clinical Commissioning Groups we no longer prescribe medication for hay fever and allergies.

Most hay fever and allergy tablets, liquids, nasal sprays and eye drops can be purchased from supermarkets and pharmacies.

They include:

Oral antihistamines such as cetirizine, loratadine, desloratadine, chlorphenamine and fexofenadine

Nasal sprays such as beclometasone, fluticasone and mometasone

Eye drops including sodium cromoglycate

Your local pharmacist can offer you hay fever help and advice
